What can we say? We love to drink. To take our imbibing to the next level, we decided to turn it into a formal hobby and start this blog. With The Informed Drinker, our goal is to explore the drinks we like—especially wine—to learn more about where it comes from, how it’s made, and to appreciate the subtleties of each drink’s flavor. As we dive deeper, we’ll pass along what we learn and hopefully have some fun along the way. Cheers!
-Scott & Jonathan
Scott McKee and Jonathan Kuhl live and work in Washington, DC. A chemical engineer by training, Scott works on Capitol Hill with a focus on energy policy and climate change. Jonathan works for the city government of the District of Columbia, where he specializes in policy and communications. When not in DC, Scott and Jonathan are at their cabin in Lost River, West Virginia, where they love taking their pups Emma and Charlie for hikes.
Scott: Dirty Gin Martinis, Negronis, and Manhattans
Jonathan: Manhattans and anything with Mezcal
Scott: I tend to favor Sauvignon Blancs, Chardonnays, and Cabernet Sauvignons.
Jonathan: I’m partial to Pinot Noirs, but the best bottle I’ve ever had was a Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon.
Scott: During the hot summer, I love a good Saison, and in the winter, I really enjoy Porters and Stouts.
Jonathan: Generally, I’m into Hefeweizens, but when the weather turns colder, I’m a sucker for Pumpkin Ales.
